A Waukegan motorcycle-pickup truck collision occurred early Sunday (August 30, 2020) morning. This Waukegan fatal motorcycle-pickup truck collision occurred after the motorcycle allegedly ran a red light.

The Waukegan Police Department and Waukegan Fire Department responded around 1:40 a.m. Sunday to the intersection of Washington Street and Jackson Street for a vehicle crash.
Investigators believe that a 2005 Suzuki motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Washington Street entering the intersection at Jackson Street.
The Suzuki struck a 2009 Ford pickup truck that was traveling northbound. Investigators believe the Suzuki ran the red light.
The motorcycle was occupied by a Waukegan man in his 20s and a North Chicago man in his 20s.
Both of the men on the motorcycle were taken to the hospital for treatment of severe injuries. The man from North Chicago passed later on Sunday. He was later identified by the Lake County Coroner’s Office as Sergio Gomez-Zuniga, 20.
The occupants of the pickup truck, a Waukegan woman in her 40s with her teenage son, were both uninjured during the collision. Both were reported to be wearing seat belts at the time of the impact.
This Waukegan motorcycle-pickup truck collision remains under investigation by the Waukegan Police Department Traffic Division.
