There was a motorcycle accident Saturday evening (September 17, 2016) in Springfield, Illinois in which the motorcyclist and passenger were seriously injured. Initially, both sustained crash injuries that were considered to be “life-threatening” in nature.

The crash occurred about 7:20 p.m. as the motorcycle was heading west on South Grand Avenue. The SUV was eastbound on South Grand, attempting to turn left to head north on Ninth Street. The motorcycle hit the side of the SUV, police said.
Both the motorcyclist and passenger later died. They were identified as Nathan M. Gulley, 17, of Moweaqua and Isaiah M. Tuppince, 16, of Assumption.
A crash investigation is being conducted by police to determine which party was at fault for the accident.
