Prominent Surgeon Dies After Loss Of Control Of Motorcycle In Rancho Penasquitos, California

A prominent orthopedic surgeon from Carmel Valley, California died Thursday night after losing control of his motorcycle while riding in Rancho Penasquitos.

Jeffrey Marxen M.D., 60, died after he lost control of his motorcycle, hit a curb, and was thrown from his Honda Goldwing motorcycle into a large blue metal canister along the curb.  Marxen was said to have been thrown 150 feet during the accident.

The accident occurred as Marxen was heading northbound on Black Mountain Road around 10 p.m.  It is unknown why he lost control of the motorcycle.

Marxen was pronounced dead at the accident scene.
