A fatal motorcycle accident happened yesterday (May 15) at Interstate 57 (I-57) and Wilmington-Peotone Road.
John C. Miaczynski, 52, of Peotone, Illinois, was the motorcycle who died following the accident.
Miaczynski was riding eastbound on Wilmington-Peotone Road at approximately 6:57 a.m. He colllided with a truck driven by Willie Lipsey, 56, of Indianapolis. Lipsey came off the ramp from the southbound I-57 Wilmington-Peotone Road exit and was turning left without yielding when the collision occurred. Miaczynski was unable to stop in time to avoid the collision. He was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee and pronounced dead at 7:24 a.m.
Lipsey has so far been charged with failure to yield at an intersection.
