Parkersburg, Illinois Motorcyclist Killed During Accident

A fatal motorcycle accident occurred Sunday afternoon on Illinois 130, approximately four miles south of Newton, Illinois.

Kevin Sager, 54, of Parkersburg, was riding southbound on Illinois Route 130 with another motorcyclist, Russell Tomblinson, 47, of Olney, Illinois.

Tomblinson was directly in front of Sager, when they both attempted to pass a vehicle.  However, both were forced to attempt to go back into their lane due to oncoming traffic.  As they attempted to do so, Sager hit Tomblinson’s rear wheel and lost control of his Harley and it fell over, skidding across the roadway.

Sager was taken to Richland Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.  Tomblinson was not injured during the accident.

Additional details and possible updates can be seen in a variety of media accounts including the May 14 Olney Daily Mail article titled “Parkersburg man dies in Sunday motorcycle accident” as well as the May 14 Newton Press Monitor story titled “Motorcycle Wreck Takes Life.”
