Often, the reason for a loss of control is determined after an accident investigation is conducted. The cause of the motorcycle crash is important to determine for many reasons, including legal reasons.

When motorcycles leave the roadway, there is a greatly increased risk of a serious crash. The inherent stability needed to control a motorcycle can be very difficult to achieve off the roadway.
