On Thursday night, a motorcyclist was killed on Interstate 270 near Mitchell, Illinois.
Details regarding the accident are limited at this time. It is being reported by the Illinois State Police that the accident occurred at approximately 7:18 p.m. at mile marker 4.8.
The motorcyclist has been identified by the Illinois State Police as Daniel W. Steward, 62, of Sorento, Illinois.
Steward was traveling eastbound on I270 in the left lane when he lost control of his 2008 Harley, ran off the roadway to the left and struck the median wire. He then was ejected from the motorcycle as the motorcycle overturned.
