As seen in many Illinois motorcycle accidents discussed on this site, such accidents can happen for various reasons. One such reason is if the motorcyclist loses control of the motorcycle and crashes. As discussed on the “Motorcycle Loss Of Control Accidents” page, there are many reasons why a loss of control can occur. While some of these involve actions (or inaction) taken by the motorcyclist, others are not related to the motorcyclist’s actions. Some of these factors outside of the motorcyclist’s control include various types of road hazards, such as gravel on the roadway.
There was a recent crash in Pekin in which a motorcyclist was injured. The crash is discussed in the September 14, 2017 pjstar.com article titled “East Peoria motorcycle officer injured in crash during St. Jude rides.” An excerpt from the article, regarding the September 14 crash:
While negotiating a curve, the motorcycle’s rear tire slid and the vehicle slid into another, non-police motorcycle, Illinois State Police said in a news release. The officer and the driver and passenger of the second motorcycle were taken to OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria with minor injuries.
Additional details regarding this crash can be seen in a variety of media sources, including the pjstar.com article mentioned above.
