Motorcyclist Dies Following Palatine Car-Motorcycle Collision

There was a fatal motorcycle crash Sunday afternoon (September 18, 2016) in Palatine.

According to Palatine Police, the crash happened just before 1:15 p.m., near Rand Road and Winslowe Road, which is near the entrance to the Palatine Walmart.

At that time, a motorcycle traveling northbound on Rand Road was struck by a southbound Mercedes that attempted to turn left immediately in front of the oncoming motorcycle.  The motorcycle struck the passenger’s side of the car.

The motorcyclist was identified as Corey Hindes, 54.  He was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge for treatment of his accident injuries.  He was pronounced dead at 7:06 p.m.

The driver of the Mercedes was identified as an 89-year-old man from Mount Prospect.  He was not injured during the collision.

He later was ticketed cited for failing to yield turning left, and has a Nov. 1 court date in Rolling Meadows. Authorities have not yet publicly identified the man.
