Motorcyclist Dies Following Collision Near Westchester

Vehicles that cross the center line, thereby striking an oncoming motorcyclist in a head-on collision (or in another direct manner) has been seen in a number of Illinois motorcycle accidents, some recent.  Two notable fatal Illinois motorcycle crashes involving a motorist crossing the center line and colliding with one or more motorcyclists are discussed in the July 18, 2016 post titled “Fatal Motorcycle Accident Involving Tow Truck In Montgomery County” as well as the July 16, 2016 post titled “Fatal Accident In Fox Lake Involving Motorcycles.”

Another accident has occurred in which a vehicle crossed over the center line and struck a motorcyclist, after which the motorcyclist died from his accident injuries.

The La Grange Patch article of July 22, 2016, titled “Chicago Man Charged With Leaving Scene of Deadly Motorcycle Crash” describes the fatal collision.  The accident happened Tuesday morning (July 19, 2016) near Westchester.  The collision happened on LaGrange Road near Cermak.

As seen in the article, the motorist was identified as Carlos Montenegro, 24, of Chicago.  He allegedly fled the accident scene.

The motorcyclist was identified as Pasquale Mastrodomenico, 47, of Westmont.

An excerpt from the Patch article:

The prosecutor said Montenegro made a statement to police that he had fallen asleep behind the wheel on his way to work at a LaGrange barbershop. It is not known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.

Additional details and possible updates can be seen in a variety of media sources, including the La Grange Patch article mentioned above.  The obituary for Pasquale Mastrodomenico can be found at this link.
