As often discussed on this site, there are many reasons for motorcycle accidents.
One reason is when one motorcycle collides with another. This can happen either when the motorcycles are attempting to ride side-by-side or as a group. A loss of motorcycle control in these situations often results in one or more motorcyclists getting injured.
First responders, including Walworth County Sheriff’s deputies and Lyons Fire and Rescue, were called at 3:09 p.m. The accident scene was on South Road just north of Highway 50.
One motorcyclist, identified as Timothy Adkins, 57, of McHenry, was pronounced dead at the accident scene.
An excerpt from the October 17, 2016 Northwest Herald article titled “McHenry man killed in weekend motorcycle crash in Walworth County“:
Sheriff’s deputies said their preliminary investigation indicated that Adkins was southbound on South Road and trying to negotiate a curve when he lost control of his motorcycle and struck a second southbound motorcycle.
The second motorcycle was ridden by a man with a female passenger. Neither of them were injured during the collision.
The traffic crash investigation continues.
