Motorcyclist Dies Following Accident In Morgan County

There was an Illinois motorcycle accident Friday (May 13, 2016) after which a motorcyclist has died.  The accident happened in Morgan County near the border with Sangamon County.

The accident happened Friday morning as an eastbound Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling on Old Route 36, and a Pontiac was driving westbound.  At some point, the Pontiac was behind a large piece of farm equipment and the Pontiac attempted to make a left-hand turn.  In doing so, the motorcycle was struck by the Pontiac, and the motorcyclist was ejected.

The motorcyclist was identified as Wayne Stice, 69, of Winchester.  He was taken to a hospital for treatment of his accident injuries, and he died Wednesday afternoon (May 18, 2016.)

The driver of the Pontiac was identified as Stephanie Watkins, 22, of   Mechanicsburg.  An excerpt from the May 19, 2016 foxillinois.com article (with video) titled “Winchester Man Dies After Motorcycle Accident Last Week“:

Watkins was issued a citation for failure to yield while turning left.
