Motorcyclist Dies After Kennedy Expressway Crash

A motorcyclist who was involved in a motorcycle accident August 17, 2014 on the Kennedy Expressway died from his injuries on Saturday, August 23, 2014.

The motorcyclist was Ronald Bermea, 31, of Villa Park, Illinois.

The motorcycle accident happened on the Ontario Street feeder ramp of the Kennedy Expressway, as Bermea was trying to merge onto merge onto the southbound Interstate Highway 90/94 .  According to the Illinois State Police (ISP) the motorcycle crash occurred at 4:35 a.m. on August 17, and happened when the motorcycle hit a concrete median barrier during a loss of control.

An excerpt from the article of August 24, 2014, titled “Villa Park man dies after crashing motorcycle on Kennedy Expressway” :

Bermea, of the 700 block of Cornell Avenue in Villa Park, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where was pronounced dead at 3:32 a.m. Saturday, the medical examiner’s office said. His death was ruled an accident, resulting from a motorcycle hitting a fixed object, according to an autopsy performed Sunday.

Bermea was drunk at the time of the accident and was not wearing a helmet, state police said.
