A motorcyclist was killed in a Hit & Run accident that happened in Elgin, Illinois Wednesday night.
According to Elgin Police, Francisco Acevedo, 25, was traveling westbound at about 7:00 p.m. on Walnut Avenue on a 2001 Yamaha motorcycle when the crash occurred. He then struck a 1999 GMC Suburban as the SUV was turning left onto Walnut Avenue from Mosely Street.
Acevedo, of Elgin, died after being taken to Provena Saint Joseph Hospital in Elgin.
The 48-year-old woman who was the driver of the GMC fled the scene of the accident. However, witnesses were able to lead police to the vehicle and the driver a few blocks away. The woman was also injured in the crash, and was taken to Sherman Hospital in Elgin.
She is being held on unrelated charges as police investigate the crash.
