Motorcyclist Dies After Accident Near Byron, Illinois

There was a fatal motorcycle accident on Monday (July 29, 2013) approximately three miles south of Byron, Illinois.

The accident happened at approximately 3:48 p.m. as the motorcyclist was riding south on Illinois Route 2, and lost control of the bike after passing two vehicles.  The motorcycle went into a ditch and traveled 400 feet before the motorcyclist was ejected from the bike, according to the Ogle County Sheriff.

The motorcyclist, Mike Ball, 59, of Mount Morris, suffered critical injuries and was flown via helicopter to OSF Saint Anthony’s Hospital.  He died from his injuries at 7:00 a.m. this morning (July 30, 2013).
