In the July 15 2011 edition of “The Highlander,” (pdf) the monthly publication of the City of Highland Park, there is a section on page 5 titled “Motorists Cautioned to Drive Safely With Motorcyclists.”
The section is three paragraphs long and contains a variety of information with regard to motorcycle and motor scooter safety.
A notable excerpt includes:
The most common causes of motorcycle crashes occur when: a vehicle turns left in front of a motorcycle that has the right-of-way; a vehicle rear-ends a slowing or stopping motorcycle; a vehicle changes lanes and strikes a motorcycle; and a motorcycle exceeds the speed limit or drives too fast for conditions.
The section also suggests a variety of safety recommendations.
