Motorcycle Passenger Dies After Accident In Pana, Illinois

There was a fatal motorcycle accident on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 in Pana, Illinois.

The accident happened as a couple was riding on a motorcycle, traveling westbound on Illinois 16, near U.S. 51.  As the motorcycle slowed to make a turn into a parking lot, it was “rear-ended” by a semi truck.

The resulting collision threw both people on the motorcycle.  Both were taken to St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

The couple has been identified as Charles Dilley, 57, of Cowden, and Carol Dilley, 57.

Whereas Charles Dilley suffered non-life-threatening injuries, Carol was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The truck driver was not injured.  He was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

The accident remains under investigation.
