Motorcycle Loss Of Control Crash In Aurora Leads To Fatality

There have been numerous Illinois motorcycle accidents involving motorcycle loss of control in 2018.  Many of these crashes have been summarized on this site.

On Thursday (July 5, 2018) afternoon there was a fatal motorcycle crash in Aurora.  According to Aurora Police the crash involved a motorcycle loss of control.

Details on the accident appear limited at this time.  Aurora Police say that the bike hit a tree near the intersection of Eola Road and McCoy Road just before 2:00 p.m.  At the time of the crash the motorcyclist was riding south on Eola Road.  An excerpt from the July 5 Chicago Sun-Times article titled “Man dead in Aurora motorcycle crash on Eola Road“:

Jonathan J. Benavides, 30, was driving a 2012 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle at a high speed about 1:20 p.m., heading south on Eola Road from McCoy Drive, when he lost control while changing lanes, according to Aurora police. The motorcycle hit a curb and Benavides was thrown from the bike and hit a tree.
