There was a motorcycle accident in an unincorporated area near McHenry on Thursday night, May 7, 2015. The accident involved a motorcycle hitting a pedestrian. The pedestrian later died.
Details on this motorcycle accident and its causes are somewhat limited at this time.
The accident happened in the 3900 block of Ringwood Road. Thomas R. King, 66, of unincorporated McHenry, was apparently struck by a motorcycle at approximately 8:40 p.m. as he was near his mailbox.
King was later pronounced dead at the accident scene, according to the McHenry County Coroner Anne Majewski.
An excerpt from the May 8, 2015 Northwest Herald article titled “66-year-old McHenry farmer killed after being hit by motorcycle on Ringwood Road“:
He [King] died of blunt force injuries to the chest, abdomen and pelvis, Majewski said.
Two people on the motorcycle, identified as the motorcycle driver, Michael Polanzi, 62, of McHenry; and passenger, Krystal L. Hyde, 28, of McHenry; were taken to McHenry Hospital-McHenry for treatment of their accident injuries. The injuries were considered to be non-life-threatening in nature.

McHenry Township Battalion Chief David Harwood said the people on the motorcycle reported they believed they had struck a deer. After retracing the motorcycle’s path, emergency responders found a deceased man lying on the side of the road, Harwood said.
