Motorcycle Collision With Deer

There was a fatal motorcycle accident Monday (November 11, 2013) on U.S. 45 in Southern Illinois.

The accident, which happened near the border of Johnson County and Massac County, happened when a motorcycle heading southbound on U.S. 45 struck a deer.  After this collision, the two people riding on the motorcycle were ejected.

The motorcycle was driven by Paul D. Meyers Jr., 49, of Grand Chain.  He was taken to Deaconess Hospital.

The motorcycle’s passenger, identified as Valerie A. Caulfield, 47, of Joppa, died at 3:55 p.m.
