There was a motorcycle accident Thursday afternoon (April 21, 2016) in Bartlett in which a motorcyclist was seriously injured. As in many motorcycle accidents which aren’t the fault of the motorcyclist, this accident appears to be an example of a car attempting to make a left-hand turn immediately in front of an oncoming motorcycle.
According to Bartlett Police, the accident happened at approximately 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of Bartlett Road and Route 59.
At that time, a 20-year-old motorcyclist riding (later identified as Sohair Rahim, of Hanover Park) a Suzuki motorcycle northbound on Route 59 was struck by a southbound Ford Escape that was attempting to turn left onto eastbound West Bartlett Road.
Rahim was taken to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates for treatment of his accident injuries. Those injuries were considered to be “life-threatening” in nature at that time. Rahim later died from his injuries, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
