There was a motorcycle accident Monday afternoon (August 24, 2015) in Chicago’s Washington Heights neighborhood.
The accident happened at approximately 2:00 p.m., and involved a motorcycle colliding with a car in the 9500 block of South Vincennes Avenue.
The motorcyclist has been identified as a Jonathan Ho, 35, an off-duty Chicago police officer who was riding home from work at the time of the collision. An SUV turned left immediately in front of Ho’s motorcycle.

Welton Crayton, 62, of the 9800 block of South Peoria Street in Washington Heights, was traveling northbound on Vincennes Avenue at the time of the accident, according to police. Crayton turned his Ford Explorer left onto 95th Street when he struck Ho, who was traveling south on Vincennes on his personal motorcycle, police said.
Ho was taken, in critical condition, to Advocate Christ Hospital for treatment of his accident injuries. He died on Thursday, August 27, 2015.

The 62-year-old driver of the car that collided with the officer’s motorcycle received citations for failure to yield, driving on a suspended license and driving an uninsured motor vehicle, according to police. Police were still awaiting toxicology results, and the accident investigation was not yet complete.
