Motorcycle Accident In Granite City Illinois Seriously Injures Two People

A motorcycle accident occurred in Granite City, Illinois on Tuesday, September 20.  Two people, the motorcyclist and his passenger, remain in critical condition at St. Louis University Hospital.

The accident occurred on Illinois 3.  According to Granite City police Maj. Jeff Connor, the motorcyclist, Harrison Padgett, 29, and his passenger, Katie Forrester, 32, both from Granite City, were riding along at 9:12 p.m. when a northbound 1995 Ford Escort, driven by Edward Sarkesian, 54, of Jennings, Mo., turned into their path while turning west onto St. Thomas Road.

Both Padgett and Forrester were ejected from the 2002 Suzuki motorcycle during the accident.

During the course of the accident, the collision caused Sarkesian’s car to flip over.   Sarkesian had minor injuries.

Illinois State Police are conducting an accident reconstruction of the crash.

The intersection of Illinois 3 and St. Thomas Roads is dark, according to Connor, and has no traffic signals or stop signs.
