As discussed on the “Early-Season Motorcycle Riding Safety Issues” page, riding a motorcycle early in the year presents unique safety issues. These safety issues are of various types, and can range from gravel on the roadway to motorcycles that have developed mechanical problems over the course of the winter months.
As well, there are potential safety issues involving motorists not being aware of motorcyclists. This remains an ongoing concern and is typically referred to as drivers “not seeing” motorcycles. This can be a heightened risk early in the motorcycle riding season when motorcycles haven’t been seen on roadways for a number of months.
