Jersey County Motorcycle Crash Involving Loss Of Control

There was a Jersey County motorcycle crash Saturday (July 6, 2019) that resulted in the death of the rider. A motorcycle passenger was injured and hospitalized. The accident is being attributed to a motorcycle loss of control.

According to an Illinois State Police report, Paul T. Barnett, 54, of Madison was driving a motorcycle south on Otterville Road near North Shiloh Hollow Road when he failed to negotiate a curve and went off the road about 5:35 p.m.

As the motorcycle left the roadway, it went into a field. Both Barnett and the motorcycle passenger, identified as Lanelle L. Hendon, 45, of Granite City, were ejected.

Barnett was declared dead at the accident scene. Lanelle Hendon was flown to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis for medical treatment of her accident injuries.
