Preliminary investigation shows the motorcycle, a 2011 Harley-Davidson Street Glide, was traveling southbound on Wilson Road. According to witnesses, the driver of the Harley-Davidson entered the intersection on a red light, while a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by a 67-year-old male of Ingleside, was traveling westbound on Rollins Road through the intersection. The Harley-Davidson struck the passenger side of the Chevrolet.
The motorcyclist was critically injured, and taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for treatment of his accident injuries. He was identified as a 48-year-old man from unincorporated Lake Villa.
His injuries are considered to be life-threatening in nature, and he was in critical condition. At the time of the accident he was not wearing a motorcycle helmet.
The driver of the Chevrolet Equinox was not injured during the collision.
The motorcycle accident investigation is being conducted by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
