Illinois Motorcyclist Dead After Falling Two Stories Off Indiana Interstate

Early Friday morning, at approximately 2:00 a.m., an Illinois motorcyclist was killed after the motorcycle he was riding fell two stories off an interstate bridge and crashed onto the road below.   The incident happened in Indiana, on Interstate 465.  Witnesses reported the motorcycle going the wrong way – it was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes –  according to police.

Somehow the man lost control of the motorcycle, and the motorcycle left the roadway and flew over the bridge deck’s concrete median, landing on the road below.

Police were called to the 9300 block of Michigan Road, where they found a Harley lying in the southbound lanes.  The rider, Michael J. Seibert of Neoga, Illinois, had been thrown onto the road nearby.  He was taken to St. Vincent Hospital in critical condition and pronounced dead shortly thereafter, at about 2:30 a.m.  Police said he was not wearing a helmet.

The accident is still being investigated.
