An I-80 motorcycle crash occurred Sunday (June 28, 2020) afternoon. This I-80 motorcycle crash led to the death of the motorcycle rider. That rider was identified as Nathan Carroll, 35, of Channahon. This accident is reported to have involved a motorcycle loss of control.

Nathan Carroll was traveling eastbound on I-80 at mile marker 111 with a group of other motorcyclists when he lost control of his motorcycle at about 3:15 p.m. Sunday. Grundy County coroner John Callahan said in a news release Sunday that Carroll’s bike traveled 300 feet before coming to a rest. Carroll was thrown from his motorcycle and was produced dead at the scene. It is unknown at this time what caused him to lose control of his bike, the coroner said.
On Monday, the Illinois State Police announced that Carroll’s motorcycle, as well as two vehicles, were traveling eastbound on Interstate 80 one mile west of Route 47 and Carroll’s motorcycle was “reported to be traveling at a high rate of speed in the left lane.”
According to Illinois State Police, the accident occurred when Carroll tried to change lanes and struck the rear passenger side of a semitrailer.
