A fatal motorcycle accident occurred in Illinois on Friday September 23.
The accident occurred at approximately 12:24 p.m. when Jerry Zallen, 75, of Herrin, IL was riding his motorcycle and hit a pickup truck on Illinois Highway 127.
Zallen was traveling southbound on a BMW motorcycle and hit the pickup truck as the truck was turning left into Salt Petre Cave.
Upon impact, Zallen was ejected from his motorcycle and later died from injuries sustained.
No one in the truck was injured by the accident.
Police say the driver of the truck was cited for failure to yield while making a left turn.
