Motorcyclist Charged With Felony Drunk Driving Following Lombard Crash

A motorcyclist was charged with felony drunk driving after a Thursday (June 28, 2018) fatal crash in Lombard.

An excerpt regarding the crash and its aftermath, from the June 29, 2018 Chicago Tribune article titled “Motorcyclist killed in Lombard crash; man on another motorcycle riding with him charged with DUI“:

Prosecutors said that about 10:45 p.m. Thursday, Tony Mueller and Mark Herrera were riding their motorcycles west on St. Charles Road at approximately 90 miles an hour when Mueller struck a curb and crashed, fracturing his skull, according to Paul Darrah, spokesman for the state’s attorney’s office.

Herrera, 30, of Villa Park, who was riding a 2015 Ducati, returned to the accident and briefly spoke to witnesses before he left and traveled to the home of two of his friends, Darrah said. Some time later, the friends drove Herrera back to the scene where a witness identified him as one of the motorcyclists he had seen speeding at the time of the crash.

Herrera also faces other charges related to the accident.

Additional details regarding this accident in which a motorcyclist was charged with felony drunk driving can be seen in the article mentioned above, as well as the June 29 Daily Herald article titled “One motorcyclist charged with DUI after another dies in Lombard crash.”

As further discussed on the “Illinois Motorcycle Riding After Drinking” page, riding a motorcycle while drunk remains one of the foremost causes of serious motorcycle crashes, including those that result in fatal injuries.
