Fatal Unincorporated Worth Township Motorcycle Accident

One of the hazards that Illinois motorcyclists face is being “seen” by motorists.  This inability for motorists to “see” motorcycles and being able to safely drive around motorcyclists can be dramatically impaired if the motorist is drunk, under the influence of drugs, or both.  The subject of the threat posed by drug-impaired motorists to motorcyclists is further discussed on the “The Danger To Motorcyclists Presented By Drugged Drivers” page.

There was a fatal unincorporated Worth Township motorcycle accident on Sunday (August 12, 2018) night.  A motorist, identified as Thomas Czerwinski, 44, of Chicago, was charged with aggravated driving under the influence causing death as well as aggravated driving under the influence causing great bodily harm.

An excerpt from the August 25, 2018 Alsip Patch article titled “Driver Charged With DUI In Crash That Killed Blue Island Woman“:

According to the charges, around 9:15 p.m. Aug. 12, Cook County Sheriff’s Police responded to a crash that occurred on Cal-Sag Road and Massasoit Avenue in unincorporated Worth Township. A Jeep Wrangler had struck a Harley Davidson motorcycle as it was making a turn, police said. The 47-year-old motorcyclist and his wife were critically injured. The woman died of her injuries Aug. 16. Cook County Sheriff’s Police later determined that Czerwinski was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the of the crash, with a blood alcohol concentration of more than twice the legal limit.

Additional details regarding this fatal unincorporated Worth Township motorcycle accident can be seen in a variety of media sources, including the article mentioned above as well as the August 24 Daily Southtown article titled “Man charged with DUI after Worth Township crash that killed motorcycle passenger.”
