There was a fatal Springfield car-motorcycle collision Wednesday (July 18, 2018) afternoon. The crash happened at Stevenson Drive and Dirksen Parkway and it appears as if the motorcyclist was ejected.

Officers were called to the area of Stevenson Drive and Dirksen Parkway. Police say the intersection is closed. The call came out just before 12:46 p.m.
Police say a female driver was moving eastbound on Stevenson and tried to turn northbound onto Dirksen. They believe the car hit the motorcycle, causing the man riding on it to be ejected.
According to the Sangamon County Coroner, the motorcyclist was identified as Roger Boyd, 71. Boyd was declared dead at 1:23 p.m. after being taken to HSHS St. John’s hospital’s emergency room for treatment of his accident injuries.
The accident remains under investigation.
