Fatal Peoria Crash Involving Three-Wheeled Motorcycle

There was a fatal motorcycle accident Sunday afternoon (October 30, 2016) in Peoria, Illinois.

According to authorities, the accident involved a car colliding with a motorcycle on Knoxville Avenue, at Glen Avenue, at approximately 4:00 p.m.  The motorcyclist was riding a three-wheel motorcycle.

An excerpt from the October 30, 2016 pjstar.com article titled “Genesco man killed in two-vehicle collision at Knoxville and Glen“:

Police Chief Jerry Mitchell said the motorcycle driver was headed southbound on Knoxville Avenue when it collided with a northbound Chevy Caliber that had attempted a left-hand turn onto Glen Avenue.

Mitchell also said that preliminary information indicated the green light was showing in both directions at the time of the collision, and the driver of the motorcycle did not appear to be wearing a helmet.

According to Peoria County CoronerJohnna Ingersoll, the motorcyclist was declared dead at the accident scene.  He was identified as Donald. E. Wheeler, 88, of Geneseo.

This fatal Illinois motorcycle accident remains under investigation and no citations have been issued at this time.
