As seen in the Illinois motorcycle accidents summarized on this site, motorcycle loss of control continues to be a primary cause of accidents causing injury or death. As discussed on the “Motorcycle Loss Of Control Accidents” page, there are many potential reasons for the rider losing control of the bike. Unfortunately, when a motorcycle loss of control occurs, it usually happens as the bike is traveling at a higher speed. This higher speed and momentum often leads to the bike leaving the roadway. After the bike leaves the road, the rider can be vulnerable to hitting a fixed object such as a tree, utility box, or utility pole. Any of these factors increase the likelihood that the rider, after leaving the roadway, will be vulnerable to serious injury.
