There was a fatal motorcycle accident late Sunday evening (July 2, 2017) in unincorporated Hartland Township in McHenry County.
First responders went to the accident scene – which was near Woodstock – at approximately 11:29 p.m., according to information provided by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office. The accident scene was in the 2200 block of Lamb Road. The motorcyclist was riding a 2016 Harley-Davidson.
An excerpt from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office press release of July 3, 2017, titled “Fatal Motorcycle Crash“:
The preliminary investigation indicated that the motorcycle was traveling northbound on Lamb Road when it exited the roadway to the east, hitting a mailbox and several large landscaping rocks. The motorcycle rolled over ejecting the driver.
There were no other passengers on the motorcycle and no other vehicles were involved in the incident. The driver was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The initial investigation indicates that alcohol and speed may have been factors in the crash. The investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Investigation Unit and the McHenry County Coroners Office.
The motorcyclist was later identified as Anthony R. Para, 26, of Hebron. He was pronounced dead at the accident scene.
