There was a fatal motorcycle accident Saturday evening (October 15, 2016) in Algonquin. The multi-vehicle accident happened on the Route 31 western bypass.
According to Algonquin Police, the accident involved three northbound motorcycles,and a car and a SUV traveling southbound.
An excerpt from the October 15, 2016 Daily Herald article titled “Motorcyclist dies after Algonquin crash“:
The motorcycles were traveling north on Route 31 north of Algonquin Road around 5:30 p.m. when they crossed the raised median into oncoming traffic and collided with two southbound vehicles, police said.
It appears as if the reason for the motorcyclists crossing into opposing lanes is not currently known and/or disclosed.
During the crash one motorcyclist died. He was later identified as Alex J. Misurelli, 35, of Crystal Lake. The two other motorcyclists were injured and hospitalized. Additionally, one of the motorists was hospitalized.
This fatal motorcycle accident is under investigation by the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team and the Algonquin Police Department.
