There was a fatal motorcycle crash Friday night (July 1, 2016) on westbound Interstate 90 (I-90) that involved a motorcycle crashing into the side of an Indiana State Police car.
According to the Indiana State Police, the accident happened at approximately 9:30 p.m., as a 2013 BMW S1000RR motorcycle was traveling on westbound I-90 just west of the Portage Toll Plaza. At that time, the motorcycle struck the passenger’s side door of the police car as the police car attempted to make a U-turn.
The motorcyclist was identified as Michael M. Damore, 28, of Highland. He was taken to Portage Community Hospital for treatment of his accident injuries. He later passed away.

Police said the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, but that his driver’s license was suspended and the motorcycle was not registered.
