There was a fatal motorcycle accident Friday evening (May 6, 2016) on Chicago’s Lake Shore Drive (LSD) in the Hyde Park neighborhood.
According to Chicago Police, the accident happened at approximately 10:26 p.m., and involved a motorcycle colliding with an SUV. The motorcycle was a three-wheeled bike like a Can-Am Spyder or Polaris Slingshot.
An excerpt from the Chicago Sun-Times article of May 6, 2016, titled “Man killed in Lake Shore Drive motorcycle crash“:
The 35-year-old was driving a motorcycle about 10:40 p.m. in the 5700 block of South Lake Shore Drive when the motorcycle rear-ended an SUV, police said.
The motorcyclist was identified as Michael Cook, 35, of Dolton. He was pronounced dead at the accident scene at 10:50 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The driver of the SUV refused medical attention, according to Chicago Police.
No citations have yet been issued regarding the crash. The Chicago Police Department’s Major Accidents Unit continues to investigate the accident.
