There was a fatal motorcycle accident Friday afternoon (July 24, 2015) in Wayne County, Illinois.
According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on Illinois 15 (near Old Fairfield Road) when a westbound minivan attempted to make a turn in front of the motorcycle. A collision occurred between the minivan and motorcycle, during which time the motorcyclist was ejected from the motorcycle.
The motorcyclist, identified as Richard D. Crane, 47, of Fairfield, was first taken to Fairfield Memorial Hospital for treatment of his accident injuries. He was later airlifted to St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville.
He died Friday evening at St. Mary’s Medical Center.

The driver of the van, Shana L. Smith, 27, of Fairfield, was also injured and taken to Fairfield Memorial Hospital following the 2:20 p.m. accident.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office ticketed Smith for failure to yield the right of way.
