There was a fatal Illinois motorcycle accident on Route 149 (near Spillway Road) on Sunday (April 3, 2016) in Jackson County. The accident happened roughly five miles west of Murphysboro.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the accident at approximately 5:30 p.m.
According to findings from a preliminary investigation, the motorcyclist, identified as William Alexander, 49, of Murphysboro, was driving east when he lost control of the motorcycle and the bike left the roadway.

Alexander lost control of his motorcycle and drove off the road.
The sheriff’s department says he was thrown from him motorcycle and suffered severe injuries.
Alexander died at the accident scene, according to the Jackson County Coroner’s Office.
An investigation into this fatal motorcycle accident is ongoing.
