There was a fatal motorcycle accident Sunday night (June 26, 2016) in Jefferson County. The accident happened on exit 94 of Interstate 57.
The accident happened at approximately 8:00 p.m.

Mt. Vernon Police Chief Chris Deichman says the preliminary investigation shows a semi driver pulled off the interstate at Exit 94, decided to re-enter the highway, and didn’t stop at the stop sign. He pulled into the path of a motorcycle driven by Donald Christopher Hopkins, 44.
Hopkins died at the accident scene. The driver of the truck was cited for failure to yield.
