On Tuesday, August 14, there was a fatal motorcycle accident on Illinois 149 approximately two miles east of West Frankfort, Illinois.
The motorcyclist killed was William D. “Rocky” Murphy, 54, of Thompsonville, Illinois.
According to The Southern article of August 14 titled “Motorcycle accident kills one Tuesday morning,” Murphy was traveling eastbound on Illinois 149 when he apparently failed to properly negotiate a curve, and ran into a tree head-on.
