There was a fatal motorcycle accident on Chicago’s Northwest Side this morning, in the Avondale neighborhood.
The motorcyclist has been identified as Alex Vilk, 27, of Vernon Hills.
According to Chicago Police, the accident happened at approximately 9:00 a.m. as Vilk was heading westbound on Belmont Avenue when a car moving eastbound made a left hand turn onto Kedzie Avenue. Vilk’s motorcycle hit the rear of the car.
Vilk was thrown from the motorcycle during the collision, and broke his neck. He was taken Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 9:28 a.m.
There is an investigation being conducted by the Chicago Police Major Accident Investigation Unit.
