There was a fatal motorcycle accident today (July 20, 2014) on Chicago’s Dan Ryan Expressway. According to the Illinois State Police (ISP), the motorcyclist killed was an off-duty Chicago Police Officer.
The accident happened at approximately 2:15 p.m. on the Dan Ryan Expressway near 71st Street.

According to Illinois State Police, a red 2007 Pontiac coupe driven by Dennis Anderson, 50, of Chicago, was trying to make an abrupt lane change to avoid missing the exit at 71st Street, when the Pontiac cut off a motorcycle in another lane.
The motorcyclist was unable to avoid colliding with this vehicle.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead after being taken to a local hospital. He was identified as Tito M. Rodriguez, 28.
