There was a fatal motorcycle accident near Illinois City Sunday, May 17, 2015.
The accident happened shortly before 8:30 p.m. as the motorcyclist and his passenger were riding in the 26000 block of 124th Avenue West, which is approximately 1.5 miles west of Illinois City. At that time, a motorist crossed the center line and struck the motorcycle.

The two were thrown from the motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene. Rock Island County Coroner Brian Gustafson said preliminary autopsy results indicate they died from multiple traumatic injuries.
The motorcyclist was identified as Kevin Douglas Diehl, 42, of Muscatine, and his girlfriend, Dawn A. Korch, 37, of Muscatine.
The driver of the car that allegedly struck the motorcycle was identified as Robert Paul Darrow, 40. The Rock Island Sheriff’s Office said he fled the accident scene on foot, but later faced multiple charges.
