Fatal Motorcycle Accident Leaves Monticello, Illinois Man Dead And Seriously Injures His Daughter

According to a March 23 News-Gazette article titled “Motorcycle accident leaves one dead, one injured,” a fatal motorcycle accident happened Thursday night on Allerton Road in Piatt County, Illinois.

The accident killed Michael Hyde, 39, of Monticello, Illinois, and seriously injured his teenage stepdaughter.

An excerpt from the article:

Chief Deputy Mark Huckstep of the Piatt County sheriff’s office said Michael Hyde, 39, of Monticello, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on the Allerton Road.

Huckstep said Mr. Hyde’s stepdaughter, Lindsey Franklin, 19, also of Monticello, was critically injured and airlifted to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana following the crash, which happened about 8:20 p.m. Thursday.

Huckstep said Mr. Hyde was driving northeast on the Allerton Road, just south of the city, when he apparently left the side of the road near a curve and lost control in a ditch with gravel. Neither Mr. Hyde nor Franklin was wearing a helmet, Huckstep said.
