Fatal Motorcycle Accident Involving Tow Truck In Montgomery County

There was a fatal motorcycle accident Sunday evening (July 17, 2016) in Montgomery County.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened at approximately 6:15 p.m., as two motorcyclists – one with a passenger – were traveling west on Burg Road, just to the north of Illinois 185.

The two motorcyclists were identified as Ricky L. Wyant, 59, of Mulberry Grove, and Dustin Wyant, 36, of Filmore.   At about 6:15 p.m., they encountered an eastbound tow truck.

According to witness statements, the truck crossed the center line, which caused Ricky and Dustin to lay down their motorcycles to avoid a collision.

Ricky Wyant was pronounced dead at the accident scene.  Dustin was treated for his accident injuries at the scene.  Dustin’s passenger, identified as Shalet Wyant, 32, of Filmore, was taken to Hillsboro Area Hospital for treatment of accident injuries.

The tow truck did not stop following the accident.  The tow truck was described as a black roll back tow truck with orange and/or yellow writing.
