There was a fatal motorcycle accident Sunday night, August 5, in Williamson County, Illinois.
Vince Ashley, 61, of Galatia, died later from injuries he sustained during the accident.
The accident happened at approximately 5:12 p.m. Sunday, when a pickup truck driven by Resa Oswald, of Marion, collided with the motorcycle ridden by Vince Ashley and his wife, Melinda, who was a passenger on the motorcycle.
The accident happened at Thompsonville and Corinth Roads; Oswald was traveling south on Thompsonville Road and was unable to stop completely before entering Corinth Road, along which Vince Ashley and his wife were riding.
Oswald is reported to not having seen the motorcycle before colliding with it.
The Ashleys were taken to Heartland Regional Medical Center, and then transported to other hospitals, where Vince Ashley died. Melinda Ashley remains in critical condition at Deaconness Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.
