Late Monday, a motorcyclist was killed in Springfield, Illinois when he was thrown off his bike and he hit a light pole on Veterans Parkway.
The motorcyclist has been identified as David W. Harris, 57, from Ashland. According to Illinois State Police, he was riding south on Veterans at Browning Road when he lost control of the motorcycle and hit a curb.
He was pronounced dead at 12:48 a.m. Tuesday, Edwards said.
According to police, it was unclear why Harris lost control of the vehicle, although there is road construction in the area of the accident.
Officials are unsure as to whether Harris was wearing a helmet.
The coroners office and Illinois State Police are investigating the cause of the death.
