As discussed on the “Motorcycle Loss Of Control Accidents” page, there are many reasons that a motorcyclist can lose control of the bike. What makes motorcycle loss of control accidents notable is that many times they cause fatal accidents.
As seen in many posts on this site – including many that are recent – motorcycle loss of control accidents are common. A traffic accident investigation is often performed after serious accidents to determine the cause of the loss of control.
Another fatal Illinois motorcycle accident is being attributed to motorcycle loss of control. This accident occurred Saturday afternoon (September 3, 2016) on Interstate 55 (I-55) Frontage Road, just north of Glenarm, in Sangamon County.
An excerpt from the September 3, 2016 sj-r.com article titled “Chatham man killed in motorcycle accident“:
Christopher W. Long was headed south on the frontage road about 3:30 p.m. He lost control of his motorcycle for some reason and went into the ditch. He was pronounced dead at the scene about 4:16 p.m.
The fatal crash remains under investigation by the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office.
Additional details and possible updates can be seen in a variety of media sources, including the sj-r.com article mentioned above, as well as the September 3 foxillinois.com article (with video) titled “Chatham Man Dies in Motorcycle Crash Saturday.”
